Sky

Sky is a Halflinger mare, and part of the second Halflinger family rescued here at Eden. She is the Momma to Apollo, Cupid & Sage and one of the gentlest horses on the farm. Sky came from a petting zoo down in Florida and was shipped with Sterling, Cupid and Sage to a zoo in Wisconsin. From the zoo in Wisconsin she was rescued by Eden Healing Center.

Sky likes to go slow and there isn’t much that bothers her, making her the perfect horse for a new or nervous rider. She’s not just a mother to her baby, Sky will also ‘mother’ her rider by being careful. Sky is another favorite in lessons and trail rides. Her bomb proof nature allows for newer riders to gain confidence.

This past summer Sky suffered from a terrible fungal infection that required us to roach her mane to fully treat. Roaching a mane means to shave it off or trim it so short it will stand straight up. Some breeds or disciplines call for roached manes, but it’s not a usual look for a Halflinger.
