HDC GAMAL I AKA BRAVADO
Leased By: Maya McQueen- (half lease)
Age:13 years
About Me: Bravado is a sweet and loving horse with a strong desire to please his rider. He has been easy to train and has proven to be a versatile companion, accommodating riders of all ages. With his calm and easygoing temperament, Bravado stands at 14.3 hands tall and can comfortably handle most riders under 150 pounds. As a beginner-friendly horse, he is well-suited for those new to riding, with a bareback rider limit of 60 pounds.
Bravado, an Arabian horse, was rescued in 2016 from a remote property in Florida where he and over 100 other horses were left to starve for four years. Discovered by a cattle rancher who alerted authorities, Bravado was taken in by Faith Equine Rescue. Soon after, Bravado and Sparrow were adopted and brought to Wisconsin, where they underwent continued rehabilitation due to their poor condition.
In late spring 2020, Bravado contracted botulism, which led to a life-threatening situation. After receiving emergency treatment at UW Veterinary Hospital, he returned home for a long recovery, involving round-the-clock care and gradual reintroduction to food and exercise. By fall 2020, Bravado made a full recovery, regaining his health and returning to his role as a beloved program horse.
